Errol. Life and Work of Josef Škvorecký

The aim of the project is to prepare an extensive monograph of Josef Škvorecký, conceived primarily as a biography of the author: the publication should take place on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the author’s birth and should be addressed to a wider public. Given the empirical nature of most of Škvorecký’s work, the axis of the work will be the permanent tension between the real life story of JŠ and the fictional world of his literary heroes. The project builds mainly on primary source materials, mainly stored in foreign archives, and relies on the researcher’s long research experience (bibliography, editions and a number of studies devoted to the work of JŠ) and on a rich correspondence with the author.
